Curriculum Integration Goal: 
To improve student proficiency in applying reasoning and problem solving skills to their reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and visual representation by integrating Thinking Maps, Kidspiration, Inspiration, and the Internet into Guaranteed Curriculum instruction and activities.

Computer generated Thinking Map concept map activities will be integrated into the curriculum to supplement and augment classroom instruction and provide opportunities to connect student learning to real life situations.  Teacher and students will create Thinking Maps to develop higher order thinking strategies in context (including using comprehension strategies to sequence, predict, draw conclusions, compare and contrast, make inferences and determine main idea, apply reasoning skills to life experiences, evaluating points of view and purpose, distinguishing fact/opinion, determining cause/effect, generate inquiry, and make connections with real life situations across a variety of texts.

Teachers will use Scott Foresman online resources to individualize student Math activities and provide remediation and practice skills learned through the Guaranteed Curriculum. Teachers will register their classes for Success Net, a Scott Foresman online resource, which will provide students with a copy of the textbook and practice and/ or remediate them.  This resource can be used from any computer with Internet access.

Faculty Development Goal:
To increase faculty usage of the computer labs and classroom technological equipment to enhance student activities.  Faculty will increase knowledge of state-of-the-art technology by attending inservices and participating in national and state professional organizations.

Teachers will provide a technologically rich, intellectually challenging, curriculum-based  learning environment through weekly, scheduled  computer lab visits. Teachers will implement the  Internet, Kidspiration and/or Inspiration, and Thinking Map activities during  computer lab visits in order to support, enhance, and supplement the curriculum.

Teachers will utilize all available technology equipment in their classrooms in order to provide a world-class 21st Century learning environment for their students. Teachers who attend inservices and quarterly Whole Faculty Study Group sessions shall engage in professional development that includes group instruction, one-on-one, face-to-face, and online experiences that are designed to prepare them for effective integration of technology into their standards-based lesson plans. Teachers will participate in national and state technology professional organizations to ensure state-of-the-art knowledge and skills. Teachers will participate in the Louisiana Association of Computer Using Educators, the Regional Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC), the Louisiana Center for Educational Technology and other state or national professional technology organizations in order to advance their knowledge of current technological developments.

To purchase state-of-the-art technology equipment, insure appropriate faculty usage, oversee maintenance of the equipment and faculty development, maintain communication with technology team members, facilitate communication between school and community and use Blackboard and email to communicate with teachers.
